Sei Sato

Sei Sato – Director & COO Sei Sato joined the Incubation Division in 2008 as an intern, where he launched a new business and gained firsthand experience as a student entrepreneur. In 2009, he officially joined tenso Inc. as a new graduate, and in 2012, he founded “Buyee”, a cross-border e-commerce purchasing support service that has since become the core business of the BEENOS Group. Under his leadership, Buyee has grown to become the No.1 cross-border e-commerce service in Japan. He was appointed Director in 2017. Sato focuses on building sustainable services that continuously deliver value to users, as well as teams where every member’s effort directly contributes to the company’s success. In the field of global e-commerce, he has been involved in various business operations. The service he launched, Buyee, has grown to handle approximately 20 billion JPY in annual transaction volume. Throughout his career, he has engaged in a wide range of areas—business development, customer support, warehouse operations, programming, design, legal affairs, and accounting. (As he humbly notes, the quality may not have been perfect in each area, but this broad exposure has given him a deep understanding of the business as a whole.) He enjoys the process of understanding different team perspectives, aligning diverse interests, and developing cross-functional strategies to solve complex problems and achieve ambitious goals.

About BEENOS Group Have you ever wondered— “How can I get a product that’s only sold in Japan from overseas?” “How can we bring our products to customers around the world?” “How can I buy exclusive overseas items in Japan?” At BEENOS Group, we turn these ideas into reality through the power of the internet. The name BEENOS comes from “BEE” and “NOS” (meaning “nest”). Like bees—symbols of harmony and mutual growth—we connect entrepreneurs, businesses, products, and information across the globe. Our mission is to build a borderless platform that links Japan and the world, expanding global possibilities through digital innovation.

How we do

Many of our international members share a love for Japan and a strong desire to bridge their home countries with Japan through their work at BEENOS.

Regardless of age, gender, or nationality, our members actively engage in open discussions about our services and ideas.

Our Culture At BEENOS Group, our core spirit is “Swing the Bat!” We celebrate the act of taking a swing—embracing challenges and bold ideas rather than fearing failure. Even if you fail, if you did so by taking initiative and trying something new, that effort is praised and respected. This warm, encouraging culture empowers every member to keep challenging themselves. As a global company, BEENOS is home to many international members. Cross-cultural communication is an everyday part of life here—whether it’s through company-wide English conversation lunches or casual outings to Taiwanese and Indian restaurants. We also design workplace systems that respect diversity; for example, business units with many Chinese members include special holidays for the Lunar New Year. Knowledge-sharing is another strong part of our culture. Drawing on our extensive experience in B2C businesses, we regularly host company-wide study sessions where marketers from different subsidiaries share best practices and success stories, sparking lively discussions and cross-company collaboration.
