I’m Natsuki, in charge of engineer recruitment at Givery!
As a tech company born in Japan, we’ve grown steadily while building diverse teams that transcend borders. Currently, Givery has active members from over 20 countries, including Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, the United States, South Africa, and France. Remarkably, 70% of our team members are non-Japanese nationals!

We’re a team of engineers united by the shared goal of creating products from a global perspective—not just for Japan, but for the world.
In fact, several of our engineers work remotely from around the globe, contributing to product development in ways that fit their own lifestyles and locations.

※If working remotely from overseas, the contract will be as a contractor. For full-time employees, working from the Tokyo office is a prerequisite.

Though we’re a Japan-based company, our products are designed to reach a truly global audience. In 2025, we also launched our India subsidiary to further support this vision.

🕐 Navigating Time Zones and Cultures, Together

Despite the challenges of time zone differences and cultural diversity, Givery functions as a tight-knit team.

That said, we’re not pretending to have a perfectly automated workflow—what keeps things running is real human collaboration.

To maintain strong communication even when working apart, we make sure to have daily sync-up meetings so members can always talk with each other, and we also hold one-on-one meetings every two weeks.

English is our common language, but many members are fluent in Japanese, and various languages are used across Slack and documentation.
Code reviews and task tracking in the engineering team are standardized in English, so non-Japanese speakers can jump in without hesitation.

💬 Communication That Goes Beyond Language

Slack is the heart of our communication at Givery.
Threads often mix English and Japanese, but thanks to built-in translation tools, conversations flow smoothly across languages.

One of the most beloved elements in our culture? Custom emojis and stamps.
These little visuals help bridge cultural gaps and express emotions without relying on words—adding warmth and personality to our daily chats.

Zoom, Notion, and other tools help us collaborate across locations, making it feel like we’re all in the same room, even when we’re not.

🗣️ A Culture of Language Exchange and Learning

Givery has a unique Language Exchange chat, where employees voluntarily teach each other Japanese and English.
Whether it’s an English speaker learning how to express themselves in Japanese, or a Japanese teammate practicing everyday English, this mutual learning culture makes language acquisition feel natural.

It’s not about memorizing grammar rules. It’s about understanding each other’s backgrounds and building empathy through conversation.
