naohiro kasuya's story

What we do

CAN!P, based in Fukuoka City, aims to “cultivate children's ability to make choices and decisions based on their own will” and operates the following educational programs: ① After-School Program (for lower elementary grades) Transforming after-school hours from “mere childcare” into “time for growth and learning.” We provide a safe space where lower elementary children can gain experiences such as: ・Self-directed learning support at their own pace (Foundational Skills + Inquiry Skills) ・Free play and outdoor play fostering creativity and collaboration ・Hands-on activities like woodworking, experiments, cooking, and seasonal events ② CAN!P Lab (Inquiry-Based Activities for Elementary Students) “I want to make it,” “I want to try it,” “I want to investigate it”—— Based on PBL (Project-Based Learning), children decide their own themes and execute projects driven by their innate curiosity. ・Children formulate their own questions and create plans ・Adults act as supporting companions, not teachers ・We value the full inquiry cycle: reflection, presentation, and improvement for next steps ③ CAN!P English School (English Inquiry School) Based on the concept of “fostering bilingualism after school,” we provide an environment where English is not just “learned,” but “used to play, learn, and express oneself.” ・Small group lessons (1:5 ratio) with foreign instructors + bilingual staff ・Output-focused STEAM, crafts, and field activities ・Visualization of English proficiency based on WIDA scales with step-by-step support

Why we do

■Empowering every child to choose their own path in life. No one can predict the future. With the rise of generative AI, climate change, and the diversification of values and workstyles—everything shifting within mere years—we believe in the power of self-determination: the ability to decide how one lives. That's why CAN!P strives to create a society through education where: A society filled with people capable of making choices and decisions based on their own will. But this power isn't something acquired overnight upon becoming an adult. The accumulation of small choices, retrying after failure, the experience of continually questioning—nurturing these within children's daily lives is our mission. ■The “Three Types of Children” CAN!P Wants to Cultivate To support children's futures, CAN!P centers its education on cultivating the following three abilities: (1) Independent Learners: The ability to think and learn for themselves (2) Passionate Explorers: The ability to follow curiosity and experiment through trial and error (3) Caring Collaborators: The ability to engage with diverse others and move forward together This value permeates all our programs—CAN!P After School, CAN!P Lab, CAN!P English School, and our full-time CAN!P School.

How we do

■Creating education without fixed answers, as a team. CAN!P is neither precedent-driven nor manual-based. We are a practice-oriented, co-creative education team that confronts daily questions in the field and continually asks alongside children, “Is this truly the learning they need?” 🎯 A workplace where education professionals gather with diverse perspectives CAN!P brings together staff with rich experience from various educational settings: public school teachers, international school educators, cram school instructors, kindergarten teachers, and more. At the same time, we welcome professionals transitioning from outside the education field and those leveraging their parenting experience, forming a team where diverse adults engage on equal footing. ・People passionate about education but frustrated with traditional approaches ・People who want to co-create questions with children rather than teach them “correct answers” ・People who want to build new approaches to education from the ground up These members come together to support CAN!P's operations. 🌱 Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand because we're a small, elite team Our workplace isn't a place where you just “do what the company tells you.” It's an environment where you're expected to resonate with our mission, think independently, plan, and take action. ・Because we operate with a small team, you have significant autonomy ・The speed where “I want to try this” leads to immediate action ・Reflection, improvement, and retrying form a daily cycle In short, it's an environment where you can create the education you want to deliver, together with your team.

As a new team member

■What You'll Be Doing ・Teach small group English lessons (mainly for lower elementary) ・Use phonics, reading, writing, and conversation-based approaches ・Plan and lead STEAM-themed hands-on activities ・Engage in meaningful play indoors and outdoors ・Lead mini field trips using English (e.g., grocery shopping, taking a bus) ・Build relationships with students and foster their emotional growth ■ The Five Attitudes We Value (1) People who can put children first (2) People who recognize their own incompleteness and continue learning (3) People who can think from scratch, unlearning without being bound by experience or pride (4) People who enjoy exploring on their own (5) People who can solve problems collaboratively with others
