今回は、この制度を利用して念願だったスペイン・ポルトガル・ドイツを巡る旅に出た、新宿校マネージャー Hirokiさんの体験談をご紹介します！

幼い頃からの夢だった場所で何を感じ、どんなハプニングを乗り越えてきたのか。リアルな「旅」のエピソードをお届けします。

✈️ 幼い頃からの「夢」だったスペインへ

Hirokiさんが今回の旅先に選んだのは、スペイン、ポルトガル、そしてドイツ。特にスペインには、特別な想いがあったそうです。

Hirokiさん： 「スペインは、物心ついた時に最初になぜか覚えた国で、ずっと自分の中で特別な存在でした。小学校からサッカーを始めたこともあり、より魅力的に映っていたんです。

以前、オーストラリアにワーキングホリデーに行っていた時、南米出身の友人が多く、彼らとスペイン語でコミュニケーションを取る機会がありました。それがきっかけでスペイン語検定も取得し、『次にヨーロッパに行くなら絶対にスペイン』と決めていました。」

🇪🇸 圧巻のサグラダ・ファミリア、そして「生きててよかった」

今回の旅でHirokiさんが最も感動したのは、やはりあの名建築でした。

Hirokiさん： 「サグラダ・ファミリアは圧巻でした。特に大聖堂の中に入った時の感動は言葉にできないほどで、『生きててよかった』と心から思える瞬間でしたね。

それと同じくらい印象に残っているのが、グラナダにある『アルハンブラ宮殿』です。イスラム文化の影響を受けた美しい建築で、ヨーロッパの田舎町まで自力で辿り着けた達成感も含めて、忘れられない経験になりました」

もちろん、楽しいことばかりではありません。到着早々のハプニングも……。

Hirokiさん： 「実は、バルセロナに向かう飛行機の中で発熱してしまって。 空港に着いてすぐなんとか薬局に行き解熱剤を買いました。観光客は出歩かない方が良いと言われるシエスタ（お昼寝の時間）を休息に充て、スポーツドリンクをガブ飲みして必死に治したのは、今となっては良い思い出ですね」

🇩🇪 旅の締めくくりは、ドイツでの再会

スペインでの濃密な時間を過ごした後、旅の最後はドイツへ。

Hirokiさん： 「旅の締めくくりには、フランクフルトに住む友人に会いに行きました。彼とはワーキングホリデー時代に出会った仲で、どうしても顔を見てから日本に帰りたかったんです。

以前も訪れたことのあるドイツですが、今回はケルンにも立ち寄ったり、友人と旧交を温めたりと、スペインとはまた違ったリラックスした時間を過ごすことができました」

様々なトラブルも乗り越え、3カ国を巡って無事に帰国したHirokiさん。 「英語が通じる国なら、たとえ見知らぬ土地でもなんとかやっていける」という、大きな自信を手に入れたそうです。

🤝 チームの支えがあったから、心置きなく旅立てた

2週間弱という長期休暇。マネージャーという立場で、どのように業務を調整したのでしょうか？

Hirokiさん： 「出発の4ヶ月前には飛行機を予約し、その時点で上司やチームメンバーに『この期間はいないからよろしく！』と伝えていました。

自分の気持ちを固めるためにも早めに宣言し、引き継ぎやサポート体制（レポートライン）をしっかり整えたことで、メンバーも快く送り出してくれました。みんなの協力に本当に感謝しています」

🌍 旅を通じて感じた、OCEのカルチャー

最後に、HirokiさんにOCEで働く魅力について聞いてみました。

Hirokiさん： 「OCEの魅力は、やはり『英語を日常的に使える環境』にあると思います。

僕自身、留学経験はありましたが、帰国後は英語を使う機会が減っていました。でもここでは、会議も資料も英語が当たり前。自分の意見を英語でしっかり伝えなければならない場面も多く、日々刺激を受けています。

今回の旅で得た自信や経験を糧に、これからもチャレンジし続けていきたいですね！」

[Travel with Benefits] A Moving Experience That Made Me "Glad to be Alive." Gaining Confidence and New Discoveries Through a Tour of Spain and Germany

Hello, this is OCE!

We have a unique benefit born from the desire to "support employees' new discoveries and experiences." That is the "Discovery Ticket," which provides up to 30,000 yen annually for travel expenses.

In this story, we introduce the experience of Hiroki, the manager of our Shinjuku school, who used this system to embark on a long-awaited trip touring Spain, Portugal, and Germany!

What did he feel in the place he had dreamed of since childhood, and what happenings did he overcome? We bring you real episodes from his "journey."

✈️ To Spain, My Childhood "Dream"

Hiroki chose Spain, Portugal, and Germany as his destinations for this trip. He had a particularly special attachment to Spain.

Hiroki: Spain was the first country I remembered when I was old enough to understand, for some reason, and it has always been a special existence for me. Since I started playing soccer in elementary school, it appeared even more attractive.

When I was previously on a working holiday in Australia, I had many friends from South America and had opportunities to communicate with them in Spanish. That inspired me to obtain a Spanish proficiency certification, and I decided, 'If I go to Europe next, it absolutely has to be Spain.

🇪🇸 The Breathtaking Sagrada Familia, and "Glad to be Alive"

What moved Hiroki the most on this trip was, as expected, that famous architecture.

Hiroki: The Sagrada Familia was breathtaking. The emotion I felt when I entered the basilica was indescribable; it was a moment where I genuinely thought, I'm glad to be alive.

The 'Alhambra' in Granada left just as strong an impression on me. It is beautiful architecture influenced by Islamic culture, and including the sense of accomplishment of reaching a rural European town on my own, it became an unforgettable memory.

Of course, it wasn't all just fun. There were also happenings right upon arrival...

Hiroki: Actually, I developed a fever on the plane to Barcelona. As soon as I arrived at the airport, I managed to get to a pharmacy and bought fever reducers. I used the siesta time (when tourists are advised to stay indoors) to rest, chugging sports drinks. It is now a fond memory.

🇩🇪 Concluding the Trip with a Reunion in Germany

After spending intense time in Spain, the final leg of the journey was to Germany.

Hiroki: To conclude the trip, I went to visit a friend living in Frankfurt. We met during our working holiday days, and I absolutely wanted to see his face before returning to Japan.

I had visited Germany before, but this time I also stopped by Cologne and renewed old friendships, spending a relaxing time different from Spain.

Having overcome various troubles and successfully toured three countries, Hiroki returned home. He says he gained great confidence, feeling that "as long as it's a country where English is understood, I can manage to get by even in an unfamiliar place."

🤝 Setting Off Without Worries Thanks to Team Support

A long vacation of just under two weeks. How did he adjust his work from a manager's position?

Hiroki: I booked my flight four months before departure and told my boss and team members at that point, I won't be here during this period, so please take care of things!

By declaring it early to firm up my own resolve and by thoroughly arranging the handover and support system (reporting lines), the members sent me off willingly. I am truly thankful for everyone's cooperation.

🌍 Feeling OCE's Culture Through Travel

Finally, we asked Hiroki about the appeal of working at OCE.

Hiroki: I think the appeal of OCE lies in the environment where you can use English on a daily basis.

I had experience studying abroad, but opportunities to use English decreased after returning to Japan. But here, it is natural for meetings and documents to be in English. There are many situations where I have to firmly convey my opinions in English, and I receive stimulation every day.

I want to continue taking on challenges, using the confidence and experience I gained from this trip as fuel!

Conclusion
