Playable Art
What if you could step inside a painting instead of simply looking at it? Playable Art reimagines Vincent van Gogh's The Bedroom as an explorable spatial experience using WebGL Gaussian Splatting. Rather than viewing the artwork from a fixed perspective, visitors can freely walk through the reconstructed environment and experience the painting as an immersive three-dimensional space. The experience combines MediaPipe real-time body tracking with spatial interaction, allowing natural movements to become part of the artwork itself. Visitors can interact with objects throughout the room—touch paintings to reveal their stories, manipulate furniture through gestures, and trigger environmental responses that transform a traditionally static masterpiece into a living, responsive environment. By blending digital heritage, spatial computing, and embodied interaction, Playable Art explores how spatial computing can transform masterpieces from objects of observation into spaces for exploration, interaction, and participation.
