The World Series of Poker (WSOP), the oldest and most popular tournament among players, has announced a new live tournament poker series, WSOP Paradise.

"We estimate that April could decrease from 93% to 95% assuming there is no change in travel restrictions. We estimate that VIP was stronger than the public, with revenue driven by very few players with very low retention rates and high volatility."



An update from Sanford C Bernstein & Company reportedly described Macau's casino sector as negatively affected by the temporary suspension of Beijing's IVS (Individual Visit Plan) program, which previously allowed mainland residents to venture into their former Portuguese enclave without being part of a tour group. The move has reportedly led to the declaration that cross-border travel has fallen to "less than a few hundred a day," compared to a daily average of 100,000 before the coronavirus.



Macau's newly appointed chief executive, Hoyat Seng, reportedly said in an official speech on Monday that there should be something "more clear" about the ongoing border restrictions within about 10 days. However, Sanford C Bernstein & Company reportedly declared in an analysis that it did not expect to "see definitive clarity on when to recover" despite recording 12 consecutive days with no new cases of the highly infectious coronavirus variant recently.


"We expect total game sales to bounce back in May/June as travel restrictions ease, but a strong short-term recovery will be difficult."


April's utterly dismal forecast for Macau casino industry
