Spain's prestigious FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has rejected the head coach of the Korean national soccer team, according to a report. Spanish media Mundo Deportivo reported on the 24th that "Savi rejected the proposal for the head coach of the Korean national team." A former star player of Barcelona, Xavi led Spain to the La Liga title during the 2022-23 season. He is under contract with Barcelona until June 2025. However, he abruptly announced in January that he would leave the team after the 2023-24 season. According to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi received an offer from the Korea Football Association a few weeks after announcing he would leave the team. At the time, Korea challenged to win the Asian Cup, but was eliminated in the semifinals. He replaced coach Jurgen Klinsmann for poor performance and management of the team. Mundo Deportivo explained, "Coach Sabi received an offer in Korea after Klinsman was fired," adding, "I thanked him for his interest, but he refused." The media added, "Coach Sabi had a firm idea that he would not stay in Barcelona after June, but he did not accept the offer."
