Data and cost analysis of the shipment volume from different FOB ports in China
The company I worked for: TJX Hong Kong Buying Office Purpose: To explore the opportunities for better container utilization and elimination of CY shipment by 20GP Methodology: Capture the shipment volume (by CFS or CY) per FOB port per calendar week Get an overview of the big picture and have better planning on how to consolidate shipment across different weeks to fully utilize a container rather then arranging the delivery by LCL Perform tradeoff analysis to estimate the cost saving in delivery by 40GP (shipper to deliver by LCL with FCA term then warehouse to consolidate to ship as FCL) versus delivery in 20GP (vendor to delivery by FCL with FOB term) Achievement: Shared the findings with logistics team at destination and collaborated with buyers on issuing some of the PO’s with FCA term, reduced the total freight cost with better utilization of containers
