こんにちは！弊社では20～30代の新人からベテランまで、７名のカンボジア人ITエンジニアが活躍しています。彼らはどのようなマインドを持ち仕事に取り組んでいるのか？また日常生活の様子など、それぞれのエンジニアの方にインタビューを行いました。こちらのストーリーで順次公開していきますね。

Hello! We have seven Cambodian IT engineers and they are new to veterans in their 20s and 30s. I interviewed them about their thoughts on work and their daily life. I will release one by one in this story.

ーなぜエンジニアになったのですか？

　私は自分で製品を構築し発明することが好きであり、多くの人が使用し、ユーザーに良い影響と経験を与える製品を構築・発明するチームの一員になりたいと思い、エンジニアになりました。

-Why did you become an engineer ? I become an engineer because I like to build/invent products on my own or be part of the team that build/invent products that will be used by the majority and give good impacts and good experience to users.

ーどのような方法でITエンジニアになりましたか？

　大学ではコンピュータサイエンスを学びましたが、多くのスキルは実務経験と継続的な自己学習から獲得しました。

- How do you become an IT engineer? I study a Bachelor of Computer Science in an university, but most of the skills that I got came from working experience and continuously self learning.

ーITエンジニアの仕事の良いところは何ですか？

　まず第一に、ITエンジニアは人気のある分野であり、IT市場での需要が高いと言えます。 第二に、ITエンジニアになると、多くの場合リモートワークなどにより柔軟に働くことができます。 第三に、ITエンジニアは国際的な仕事であるため、その国に留まらずグローバルに活躍できます。

-What are the good things about an IT engineer’s job? First we could say it’s’ a popular field and high demand in the market. Second, when you become an IT engineer your working is kind of more flexible in many cases (Work remote for example). Third, as IT engineer is an international job, when you become in the position your market is global not just local.

ー現在、Dynamoではどのような仕事をしていますか。

　私は、システムおよびサーバーエンジニアです。最近、ソフトウェアやアプリケーション開発にも携わっているので、どちらかといえばDevOpsエンジニアになります。

-What kind of work do you currently do at Dynamo? I am a system and server engineer, recently I have also transitioned into software/application development and switched back and forth. So you can call me a DevOps engineer would be more accurate as to what I am doing.

【自宅でのリモートワークの様子／Remote work at home】

ー弊社では、勉強したり、スキルを磨いたり、何か新しいことに挑戦していますか？

　もちろん、Dynamo-techでは常に新しいことを学ぶ必要があります。現在、Python、Django Framework、Google Cloudを使用したクラウドインフラストラクチャを学んでいます。新しいスキルを継続的に学ぶことは、常に興味深いことです。

-Do you have a dynamo work that you want to study, improve your skills, or try new things? Of course at Dynamo-tech there ’s always new things to learn, currently I am learning Python, Django Framework and cloud infrastructure with google cloud and it ’s always interesting to continuously learn new skills.

ー海外の人から見ると一般的に日本人はよく勤勉だと言われますが、このような日本企業で働くことについてどのように考えますか？また、あなたやカンボジア人の仕事についての働き方の考え方はありますか？

　100％ではないかもしれませんが海外の人が言ったことは本当で、勤勉だと思います。私個人の考えとしては、一生懸命働き、物事を成し遂げ、価値を創造し結果を出すことが好きですし、また、一生懸命働きチーム全体の成長に貢献する個人やチームを尊重しています。そして、 ほとんどのカンボジア人においても同じように考えていると思います。

-People from overseas say that Japanese people are diligent, so what do you think of working at a Japanese company? Also, do you have any idea about the work of you or Cambodians? I think what people from overseas said is true, it might not be true 100% but most :-). For me personally, I also like working hard and get things done, create value and deliver results. I also respect individuals and teams who work hard and contribute more for the growth of the whole team. I think most Cambodian people are the same.

ー最後に、近い将来について仕事やライフプランなど、どのような目標がありますか？

　現在、私は以前のシステムおよびサーバーエンジニアからWebアプリケーション開発にスキルを広げています。まず私の短期計画は8月までにWebアプリケーション開発、特にPython言語とDjangoフレームワークの知識を適応させることです。その後、私が得た知識を他の新しいチームメンバーと共有する計画をしており、他のエンジニアと共に開発チームの生産性を向上させていきます。

-What goals do you have in the near future? Currently I am expanding my skill from a former System and Server Engineer into Web application development. So my short time plan is to expertise the knowledge of Web application development specifically Python language and Django framework by August this year 2022.
After I am done my part I am also have a plan to share the knowledge I gain with other new team members and together we are going to boost productivities of our development team.

The development of Phnom Penh, the capital of our company, has been remarkable in recent years, and the average age of Cambodian people is 24.5 years old, which is also a country with a high youth ratio. Their potential is high, and the IT industry is one of the most popular professions. We will continue to release interviews with Cambodian IT engineers! !!
