Yoichiro Tamada / 玉田 曜一郎 Lucy Dayman / ルーシー・デイマン . . I started the company with my Australian business partner Lucy Dayman, it's called Y+L Projects inc.
Lucy was originally a freelance writer in Tokyo and often worked with me, I've learned international marketing measures from her and also collaborated with her creating articles and technical copywriting etc...
I also work as a freelancer doing digital consulting, branding, creative production, marketing, and direction, and we have many freelance friends who do similar work overseas. So far, I've been brainstorming projects with them to solve companies' problems (digital, branding, marketing, social media strategy planning, and implementation, etc.).
At the moment Japan's population is decreasing, so more than ever new start-ups need to look at overseas markets.
The Japanese market is niche, so when you're thinking about expanding your business overseas, you need to be smart about creative and technical productions, and you need to update your website and services.
On the other hand, when foreign companies enter the Japanese market, they need to ask an agent who knows the Japanese market. However, even if they spend a lot of money on a big campaign, it's hard to build good relationships with Japanese customers. So, rather than being an independent advertising agency, we decided to run our business as a "communication agency" that creates an environment where companies that make great products can effectively reach their target customers can cultivate new, exciting relationships.
Digital marketing methods and strategies in Japan are years behind companies in the US and Europe. This global team is our solution will help Japanese companies solve problems in the Japanese and international market.
Working with multiple clients on the same team tends to produce the same output creative. We work with freelancers in the client's product persona to create a project-based team.
For the most innovative outcomes, it's better to ask experts in their field, for example, ask male designers about creating men's products, female designers for women's cosmetics brands, fitness enthusiasts for fitness clients, and local agencies in overseas markets such as Thailand.
I feel the most passionate about creating the best outcome with freelancers who are experts in their field; that way, we can effectively assist a client in reaching their ideal audience.
That's our company.
You can start from small things such as localized translation from Japanese to English.
