海外ポーカー実践 最終ROI(投資利益率)
— FIELD LOCATIONS — 5 COUNTRIES · 7 CITIES 🇩🇪 Wiesbaden · Berlin · Baden-Baden 🇫🇷 Paris 🇨🇭 Zürich 🇫🇮 Helsinki 🇧🇬 Sofia From October 2023 to February 2024, during my exchange year in Europe, I used no-limit Texas Hold’em as a field project for examining decision-making under incomplete information. The objective was not to present short-term profit as an achievement, but to test whether an expected-value-based framework grounded in probability, statistics, and game theory could be applied consistently across different environments. To keep academics as the priority, I imposed a strict cap of 175 hours and 52 minutes of play. Within that constraint, I completed 26 sessions across five countries and seven cities: Wiesbaden 12, Paris 5, Berlin 4, Baden-Baden 2, Zürich 1, Helsinki 1, and Sofia 1. The final ROI was 532%. Here, ROI is defined as net profit ÷ total buy-ins. That figure requires an important qualification: 26 sessions and 175h 52m is not a sample large enough for poker variance to converge. I therefore do not treat 532% as evidence of skill or of reproducible profitability. The actual object of the study was the consistency of the decision process — whether I could maintain an EV-based framework while accounting for risk, opponents, and environmental information without allowing short-term outcomes to dictate the next decision. The lasting lesson was not that the project produced a high return, but that the quality of a decision should be evaluated separately from the outcome it happened to produce. That distinction continues to shape how I form hypotheses, observe results, and revise decision criteria under uncertainty.
