China, U.S., Japan… “I want to keep staying at the frontier of the world”

- She is smiling and working hard everyday at the office. I’m always surprised at her designing talent. Her nickname is Jiajia, from China. Good afternoon Jiajia, how is it going? Thank you for sparing your time for the interview. First, can you tell me your backgrounds?

Of course! Hi, I’m Jiajia. It’s my nickname, my name in Chinese characters is 周佳雨. As you already know, I’m from China. I was born and grew up there. After I graduated from high school in China, I moved to the U.S.A. and entered the Boston University. My majors are architecture and economics. Now, I’m studying in Keio University in Japan and mainly studying economics.

In my lesiure time, I am a fan of anything related to artificial intelligence, like robots museum, sci-fi TV programs such as BLACK MIRROR, WEST WORLD, etc. I like drawing as well, currently I am thinking about drawing a conceptual map about my life in Tokyo. Being around different kind of people and sceneries inspires my passions to record those fanscinating experience in artistic form. Anyway, I enjoy living in other cultures, making friends and exploring new things a lot.

- Thank you! Your Background is very attractive and you hobbies are so interesting and I wanna ask you many things personally haha. I really feel and respect your energy to study and move a lot. I should work more haha. Let’s go on a next question. What were you doing before you joined Zenport?

I was doing 2 internships and was in 2 student clubs in U.S. and China. As for the internships, I worked in a city planning department in Boston University and MIT media lab as a graphic designer. As for the club activities, I was a president in Asian Studies Initiative to let Americans know more about Asian cultures and I launched an voluntary project for autistic children in AIESEC in China.

- WOOOOW!!! You do so many things!!! I should learn from you. Working in Boston University and MIT lab is so cool! Japanese students including me should study harder and do something good for the society like you. And then, why did you choose Zenport to work in Japan, even though you are busy studying abroad in Keio University?

Main reason is that I’m very interested in international trade and IT, because both of them have big influences on the globalization and I want to keep staying at the frontier of the world. Moreover, Zenport is welcoming international environment, which means a lot of members are from foreign countries from all over the world and the language we use is English. I like this not typical Japanese environment to work. Also, I have never worked in a startup. So I wanted to see and know how a company grows, because in the future I’m planning to establish my company and do some businesses. I believed and I’m believing this experience is rewarding.

Zenport For The Better Society

- You have a lot of considerate reasons to work here. You have your clear future vision and are working for that enthusiastically. I’m very impressed and almost full but need to keep the interview. So, tell me what you are doing in Zenport?

I’m a designer. I’m working on website design, CI (corporate identity) design, and business brochure design. The difference from Kevin (He is also our designer) is he is designing the product and I’m designing all except the product. We just released our new corporate site on Monday, so please check it. I hope you guys like it.

- Yeah, I know you are good at drawing pictures, characters and design. I like the new corporate site and think it is much better than we used to have. Thanks for your work. We are full of men and don’t have such a nice designing sense, so please make us cool!. All right, next question. What do you want to do or how do you want to be in Zenport?

Through whole my life, I want to do something that can benefit society and people, and fulfill my potential, which means I want to see how far I can do for the society. International trade is connected to all over the world and has a big influence on a lot of industries in the globalized era. So I want to make our product, “Zenport”, better for clients and society and change the world for a better way. As for myself, I want to be a strong and independent person, while I can make a close relationship and connection with people like family.
