What's Up Wantedly #7 - Don't let poor management ruin productivity!
As employers, we all know the importance of creating a positive and productive workplace culture. However, recent studies have shown poor management can significantly impact employees' mental health and performance.
A report by The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), a professional body for the HR and L&D profession in the UK and worldwide, reveals a direct link between poor managers and negative mental health, job satisfaction, and performance among workers.
The report draws on data from the CIPD's annual Good Work Index, and workers whose managers were rated in the bottom quartile of the manager quality index were more likely to report negative impacts on their mental health, excessive pressure at work, lower job satisfaction, and reduced willingness to go the extra mile.
We encourage you to read the article and reflect on your management practices:
- Are you prioritising your employees' mental health and well-being?
- Are you communicating effectively and providing opportunities for growth and development?
As leaders in our organisations, it's our responsibility to create a positive and supportive work environment for all.
