#29. Jason Lim and his Values, Passion, and Purpose
Wantedly's SG60 stories series is about people who have been shaped by Singapore, and had made a difference in Singapore. This series aims to be a platform for individual reflection on what our own values are, and how we discover our passion and strive towards our purpose.
With our mission to create a world where work drives passion, no matter the industry you pursue, discovering and aligning your values, passion, and purpose will give you the best chance at having a fulfilling career, and more importantly, life. And when this alignment is in place it leads to something greater - organisations can achieve their mission, and your community and beyond will benefit in the long run.
Values are your non-negotiable foundation, passion is about what excites and motivates you, and purpose is your deeper reason for existence. - Harvard Business Review
As a nation, when we reflect on our shared values of multiculturalism, boldness, resilience and openness, we can build upon what drove our prosperity. SG60’s theme is a refreshed spirit, and by celebrating Singapore’s journey to date, Wantedly is proud to spotlight diversity, and how it has contributed in unique ways in the past and for the future.
Introducing Jason
Jason Lim is the founder of Real Men Co., a movement dedicated to helping men step into their authentic selves and embrace mature masculinity. Through workshops, coaching, and community, he creates spaces where men feel safe to strip away masks of performance, face their struggles with courage, and lead with vulnerability, truth, and strength. Beyond his entrepreneurial work, Jason also leads innovation projects in the tech industry, bridging corporates and startups to unlock creative solutions. His journey is fueled by faith, resilience, and a belief that men who are true to themselves can change families, communities, and society for the better.
In his own words
Fun fact/Throwback: On my very first day of school, when most of the children were crying and clinging to their parents, I looked at my mom and told her she could go home, because I was good. I guess my independent streak started really young. That desire to step into the world on my own two feet has stayed with me ever since, shaping how I embrace freedom and new experiences.
Oh, and I was once found in a Cambodian hospital with a death certificate.
1. What are your top 3 values?
My top three values are freedom, faith, and family. Freedom, to me, means the ability to explore life fully and to live authentically without being bound by masks or expectations. Faith grounds me and gives me the courage to keep going when life feels uncertain. And family is my anchor. At the end of the day, everything I do is for the people I love and the communities I belong to. These three values guide my decisions, keep me aligned with what matters, and remind me to keep choosing truth over performance.
2. What keeps you up at night?
I am actually very grateful that I sleep well at night. Part of that peace comes from knowing that I am doing my best to live a life true to myself. In Bonnie Ware’s book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, the number one regret she recorded was, “I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” That line struck me deeply. I rest well because I am consciously striving to live in a way that avoids that regret. It gives me peace to know I am aligning my life as best I can with who I really am and with the calling God has placed in me.
3. What gets you out of bed in the morning?
What gets me out of bed in the morning is the chance to help other men find the same peace I have found. That peace comes from having the courage to live a life true to myself, a life led by faith and aligned with God’s calling. Every day I get to walk alongside men who are searching for that same freedom. I know how transformative it is when someone realises they no longer have to live under the weight of shame or expectation, and that makes me excited to start the day.
4. What fills your cup?
What fills my cup is belonging. Belonging is powerful — it is about finding it for myself, but also about creating it for others. I find joy in forming communities where men realise that they are not alone, that they are seen and accepted just as they are. It reminds me that no one is meant to walk this life in isolation, and that we are at our best when we stand together, connected and grounded in brotherhood.
5. With Real Men Community, how do you define impact and success?
For me, impact is measured not only in breadth but in depth. It is not just about how many men join our programs or communities, but about whether those men are truly transformed. Success is when men begin to live out their true selves, when they step into an authentic masculinity that is grounded in vulnerability, faith, leadership, and growth. To realise this vision, it will take time, consistency, and a willingness to keep showing up even when the work is messy. It means creating programs that resonate deeply, cultivating a culture of safety and courage, and leading by example, even in my own imperfections. If Real Men Co. can help shift the narrative for men from shame and silence to truth and brotherhood, then I will know the work has made a difference.
6. Please leave us with your hope for Men/Masculinity.
My hope for men and masculinity is that we move away from narrow, performative definitions of what it means to be a man. Masculinity is not about suppressing emotions, dominating others, or constantly proving yourself. True masculinity is about embodying strength with tenderness, courage with vulnerability, and leadership with humility. My hope is that men will no longer feel enslaved by shame or expectation, but live as sons — free, whole, and true to themselves.

Once again, in celebration of SG60, let us strive to be bolder and kinder to one another, for Singapore and ourselves.
