Spanning across 7 continents and more than 90 countries, all travel recommendations are based on the experience of travel experts who know what they are talking about. Our coverage includes the most popular cities in the world such as London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, etc. as well as off-the-beaten-track destinations like Mongolia, Romania, San Luis Obispo (Mexico) and Tibet.
Why we do
Venture Republic (VR) Group was established in Tokyo by Harvard Business School Grads Kei and Kenichi Shibata, who both foresaw the future of the online travel industry in 2001. VR has successfully run its mothership meta-search travel site, Travel.jp and today, its travel guide section has more than 23 million aggregated users per month.
After the success in Japan, Kei Shibata saw a huge potential in online travel businesses in the Asian market. Kei met Shaw and Venkat, who were both in the travel tech industry for several years, and they began discussing business ideas. Trip101 was established in September 2015 as a sister-site of Travel.jp to cater to an English market. The unique value of this online travel guide lies in its strong and active community of 600+ travel bloggers from over 40 nationalities.
