I’m currently working as a Server Engineer at TenTen in Tokyo utilising Ruby on a number of apps running on a microservices architecture. We develop a loyalty app for Suntory/Asahi/Pokka which allows users to purchase drinks at a vending machine using points and their credit card.
I started off at a fast-moving startup called Workible in Sydney, which provides an innovative and easy way for employers and employees to be correctly matched. One of my projects included creating a mini Android app using Angular, Ionic and Cordova that worked with NFC tags so that job seekers could apply immediately at the location of the job.
I enjoy working on projects that are at the forefront of technology and make the user go "WOW"! The sensation of knowing that my project has put a smile on someone's face making them wonder how it works so amazingly is what I crave.
I am currently developing a platform that allows users to purchase drinks at vending machines using an app. The platform is based on a microservices architecture with the individual apps utilizing Ruby, Ruby on Rails and the Grape framework.
The platform is the hub of the system and ensures smooth communication with and between vending machines, the frontend dashboard, and loyalty app.
The microservices communicate with one another via the RabbitMQ message broker and Sneakers gem. This allows each app to both publish and subscribe to messages.
My responsibilities include the planning of features and writing of specifications, liaising with the project stakeholders, app and frontend engineers, the timely delivery of features and code reviewing other engineers.
I re-developed a comprehensive management platform for Instagram influencers which incorporates a comment moderation API, analytical insights into follower data, and an automatic scheduler for posts.
I had also developed a dynamic payment system for this Instagram management platform which provides users two different charging options: one-time charge or a recurring subscription. Users can also choose to pay via convenience store (Komoju), credit card (Stripe), PayPal.
The frontend is built on React and communicates with the Rails backend via JSON API. I also made extensive use of Facebook Graph API to retrieve insights data on Instagram business accounts and to GET, POST and PATCH Instagram media and comments.
I provided consistent and attentive maintenance and feature additions to Ruby on Rails apps owned by a variety of clients, which involved responding to bug fixes and feature requests and applying security updates.
I was the manager of the CodeCare division and I led a team in providing high quality feature additions and debugging services for a range of clients.
I created Rails APIs that spoke with third-party APIs to transfer and receive data via HTTP and FTP. Data formats include XML and JSON. For instance I have developed Rails APIs that communicate with two of Australia’s biggest Real Estate Websites hosting millions of homes: Domain and Real Estate Australia.
I learnt about Android and iOS development and I added features to apps using the Rails Turbolinks Android/iOS adapter.
I was responsible for maintaining client relations via constant communication and feedback to ensure that their changing needs and wishes were met in a timely manner.
I worked closely with the Operations team to manage the deployment of the app without errors and ensured that the app always properly delivered the correct assets requested by users.
I managed client accounts and developed digital marketing solutions for the Asia Pacific region and Japan utilizing the latest techniques in Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay-Per-Click (PPC) and Social Media.
I strategically planned online marketing campaigns for clients based on their current situation and business objectives. Strategies were tailor-made for each client to satisfy their requirements and expectations.
I specialised in providing knowledge and expertise in digital marketing in the Asia Pacific and Japan for multinational companies.
