3D Weapon Models
The journey of being a foreign creative in Japan is quiet an interesting one. It's one that is simultaneously inspired and rife with anxiety. Right now, I have come back from a full day of teaching English with a burning desire to create. To draw. To make something. Anything.
If I come how and relax for too long and feel like I am wasting time when I could be doing more. However I also look back and realise that I have achieved everything that my childhood version wanted, and have the freedom to pursue art as a hobby. No clients, no deadlines, just me and personal projects. Truly a great place to be, but yet I still miss working fulltime in a creative team. Talking emerging technology and critiquing artwork with peers.
Lately, my obsession has been updating my 3D portfolio. The image above started as a sword study, just to see how well I could model it. But it ended up being a full room with textures and lighting. If you want to see more you can view the full artwork here:https://www.artstation.com/artwork/1N3ZLe
My relationship with 3D has always been a fickle one: I adore the craft and spend so much time playing AAA games as my main pastime. However, I've never really pursued it for longer than afew days, or a small project.
But now things will change. I'd like to set my goal on building a 3D portfolio over the course of the year, re-learning the software and pushing myself.
What about you? What obsessions do drive you, what goals have you set? I hope you can achieve all of them and more.
