Hisashi Oguchi
I am a creative producer and curator/ editor of culture-oriented projects and brands. During recent positions, I directed marketing, field analysis, localization, creative direction, production, branding, e-commerce, and PR and editorial duties for software, fashion brands, entertainment media IP, and traditional crafts in commercial and public appropriation, whose objectives are primarily to promote and generate revenue streams from Japan & North American markets, bi-directionally. In such circumstances, I managed Japanese and American teams and/or freelancers up to 15 members: therefore, my skill set also includes managerial, organizational, and motivational lead to achieve goals in creating profit and increased brand valuation. As a public worker, I was an external producer of Japanese gov't METI’s "Japan Brand" initiative to optimize outbound, inbound, utilization of traditional craftsmanship and promote all resources of Japan. This experience grants me the knowledge, connections, and general administrative protocols at Japanese public institutions. As an editor and producer at NTT and Takarajima, I've developed wide range of publication from academic to fiction in Japan, US and China (Vertical Inc. & China Translation & Publishing Group and etc.) some of that made to multi-tier franchise. One good example is an award-winning Japanese novel “Ura-Enma” that was adopted and published by Dark Horse Publishing as a comic series “The Immortal – Demon in the Blood” with movie option rights reserved, besides being published as an literature. Another achievement was a development of a sleeper smash-hit Anime "Tiger and Bunny", some portion of whose names, profiles, visuals of main characters were based on my personal experience in the US. My keen interest is to create a sustainable and a long-term culture around a franchise I believe in, because such culture can elevate a brand into a commodity, neighboring food and shelter, forever.
